WHY A REPUBLIC?

The American Senate
The importance of the American Senate cannot be overemphasized. It is the most
remarkable Senate in the world! It is utterly unique. The entire Nation is
centered around their Senate. It is the hardest working arm of their governing
body and the most visible. It is the glue that binds the Nation together.
Without it in its present form, the Nation could not continue!
In this instance, America is not a Democracy, it is a Republic based on their
Constitution. It is a Nation of Laws that spell out their Freedoms and Rights.
The Senate is not chosen by population representation. They are allocated by
state. Each state is given two senators regardless of their population size. The
three largest states, California, Texas and New York get two senators each while
the smallest ones, right down to Hawaii and Vermont also get two.
There are 50 states, therefore a total of 100 senators. If it were a democracy,
the three largest states would control all the others with complete abandon by
right of the democratic process (sometimes called legal mobocracy). However,
because of this unusual accommodation of elected senators, the 47 smaller states
overbalance the populous ones by sheer numbers.
This was only possible because of the great maturity demonstrated by the largest
states. They chose to place NATIONAL UNITY ahead of demanding the democratic
process that would have given them total control of the entire country. Which
was more important? Of course a unified nation was the outcome! Unified, they
grew into the greatest nation on earth! All other countries remain far behind
them because they are all dictatorships or socialist democracies that will
deteriorate into dictatorships. History has proven that is what happens to all
democracies eventually. The majority will always plunder the productive sector,
thus bankrupting the nation. Canada is well on its way to accomplishing exactly
that.

why we are in this dreadful economic mess resulting in ...

Ludwig Von Mises.
. "Everything brought forward in favor of
socialism during the last hundred years, in thousands of writings and
speeches, all the blood which has been spilt by the supporters of
socialism, cannot make socialism workable. Nothing has shaken the proof
that under socialism economic calculation is impossible."
