WHY A REPUBLIC?

THAT DREADFUL WORD "APPOINTED"

This is the curse of the Canadian Governing system. The President of the United States is the most powerful leader in the world, he is elected to office by the people but he has NO dictatorial powers. In the American Republic, "The Supreme power is in the Hands of the People". Unlike the Canadian leaders, He Cannot appoint the SENATE, He cannot appoint the SUPREME COURT, He cannot even appoint his own CABINET MINISTERS! He can nominate candidates of his choice, but they all must be screened and thoroughly examined by the Senate and then confirmed before they are installed in office. It is a very serious process that the people of America are directly involved in.

Canada inherited its feudal, archaic governing system from Mother England. They have always had an upper governing chamber that was never elected to office called the "House of Lords". It overrules the House of Commons. They have been trying to abolish it for a thousand years, but have been unable to do so to this very day. All citizens, the common people of the British Empire are referred to as British subjects. That is why the lower chamber of the legislative assembly is always referred to as the "House of Commons", they are the elected representatives of the common people. The pattern of Government in Canada is exactly the same as the British model. Our Parliamentary legislative assembly in Ottawa is also refereed to as the HOUSE OF COMMONS. An appointed class of privileged people called the Canadian Senate also overrules them! The Canadian Prime Minister has much more power over the Nation than the President of the US.

Just like the British, we are a Nation of "class distinction". We truly are "The Commoners under the Royalty" Many of our Canadian citizens, the "Monarchists" cling to the British Royalty regardless of the horrific cost it has been to the Nation. That is why we Canadian Republicans ask all concerned Canadians to join us and work together to bring in a Constitutional Republic based on the American government model.
